So this has been such an emotional week. We had the final breakdown of my car (on Tuesday), then the very same day after I picked Eric up from work in the mino we got to Chick-Fill-A and his car started leaking coolant... so what did I do? I had an emotional break down! I was thinking that now we didn't even have ONE car that worked... that we weren't ever going to be able to find an Equinox that we like AND fits our budget, I was thinking that this is the worst it could get! Well we got it home and I continued my break down. We took it over to Eric's parents where the men found out that it was a small little problem and had it fixed in no time. Meanwhile, my sweet momma-in-law helped calm me down and just let me vent. (We also watched Jon and Kate that night and found out about their divorce, which kind of put things back in perceptive) So Eric and I came back home... Eric looked on AutoTrader and there was our car! Perfect, one owner... great millage, not too far.... awesome right? So Wednesday we are getting all pumped and ready to go, at lunch we even talked about strategies to use with the salesman. So after I drop Eric off back at work I call the dealership to make sure it's still there and to see how late they are open. That's when another ball dropped.... they had sold it the day before! :( I cried... again. I was prepared to walk away from the car if they weren't going to give us the deal we wanted, but I wasn't prepared to not even get a chance to try! So... that takes us to Thursday, when USAA calls and tells us they are going to give us a rental car (after my letting them know that we weren't happy with the timeliness of their work with our claim), and they are going to go ahead and take care of hauling away the little blue car (which is still sitting in the parking lot). So that was a bit of good news! So last night we went and picked up a little Ford Focus. So today, both Eric and I drove to work... it was great!
Now, that leads us today and why I'm asking for prayers. We are going to Houston this weekend to look for a car. There is a VERY good one that we are looking at in LaGrange. (half way to Houston) It's a smaller dealership, the car only has had one owner and has really low millage. AND it's white... which is my favorite color of all the ones we have looked at. We know that we still need to be willing to walk away. (I will admit though that's going to be hard knowing that we have to turn in the rental soon and it will be back to sharing, and that this is JUST what we want!) It is priced a bit high right now... we are hoping to get them down a bit... we have a number and we need to be strong. Please pray that if this is the one the Lord wants us to have that the dealer will work with us and come down.
So after we go to LaGrange, if we do get the car, we will continue our trek to Houston to spend some time with Chad and Brooke, Eric's brother and our sister in law. We are all going to go see Transformers and then go to church with them the next morning. It will be a nice end to a very stressful week.
Now, if we don't get the car in LaGrange (insert sad face here) then there is another dealership that has two Equinoxes, but they were both Rental Vehicles, and we're not too crazy about that idea. If that doesn't work (insert bawling here) we will ask around and drive around to see what else there is.
So, please pray that if this is the one the Lord wants to us to have they will come down on the price. Also pray that the Lord will help us to think responsibly and be good stewards of the money he has blessed us with! (Pray specifically for me, that the Lord will control my emotions, that I WILL be able to walk away if need be) Also, pray that the Lord will help us be a team on this, with all the emotions (especially from me) it has created a stressful situation in our little family. I know that's alot of prayer request all over the same thing... but I am grateful for the support we have (all 5 of my readers).
So that's it for now... I'll post on Sunday when we get back to let y'all know what happened. Oh... my emotions are going to be hard to handle b/c I am already almost crying thinking about writing that we might not have it when we come back. Man.... I'm not so sure I like this whole being an adult thing... marriage.... I like, having a real job... I like, writing big checks with our hard earned money and making decisions that need to last a long time.... tough!
I don't know what is so appealing about the Equinox to you, but if it's the general size you are both welcome to "test drive" my Exploerer! I LOVE it (though I miss my V8) and we got it used, 5 years, 1 owner, less than 100,000 miles (really, a baby if you think of my two trucks) for $10,000. And it has lots of perks. Like a thermostat, which I love. And a sun roof that I don't.
