Well my kiddos graduated today! It was a blast! We had a few little technical difficulties with the music, but all in all, it went really well! It was so great to see my kids walk across the stage, some skipping, others dancing, and my shy ones practically running. They were the cutest things! After graduation we (the teachers) kind of encouraged parents to take their kids home with them. So between all three kinder classes we only had 10 kids. SO we went to the library, lunch, PE and Music and then played outside the rest of the day. I just can't believe that I am almost completely done with my first year of teaching! It went by so fast. I have learned so many things... here are a few:
*never underestimate the joy a child can bring
*no matter who, a child can always benefit from a hug
*NEVER trust boys alone in the bathroom.... pee can end up many places... even a trashcan
*always have a fun game or activity in your back pocket to play
Over this last year, my kids have made me laugh, sigh, smile, cry, and want to run away. I have grown to love each of them so much! I love that I know them so well... that I know the second before they are going to do something wrong, or when their feelings have been hurt. I love that they want to sit on the swing and talk to me during recess time, and show me the cool looking rock they found. I have been blessed to see a joy and excitement for learning that only a 5 year can share. Now, as I think about them leaving me and going to a new teacher I get really sad! They are MY babies! But I guess I can share them next year.....
Other than school things are good. Eric had a BLAST in Dallas last weekend, and I had a fun surprise visit from my folks. We are getting ready and excited for our San Antonio trip this weekend. McClain (where Eric works) is sending all their employees and their families to See World for an appreciation day. We went two years ago but since we weren't married we ended up getting home super late. Well this year, we are going to get a hotel room and make a fun weekend trip out of it! I'm so excited! We're going to go to the Alamo Saturday morning, and maybe do some fun shopping. We might even see up, which I am really looking forward to! I just think it will be a WONDERFUL way to welcome in the summer!
The Alamo, I have to say, is not the most exciting landmark to visit. You know my love of Texas, but really, the other missions in San Antonio are much more fun. Part of this may stem from the fact that I think every single year from 2nd grade on, we visited the Alamo. And there's just not that much to see there!
