So I survived the first week back! I do have to admit that all week I have been thinking about tomorrow morning... when I don't have to set an alarm and I can sleep till whenever I want.... or at least till Gus decides he is ready to pee and eat. I also am going to get to catch up on things like laundry, dishes, vacuuming and other fun things like that. I'm also going to try and go to the library to get some books for my kids this next week, work out, and then take Gus man with me up to school. (not sure if that's allowed, so shhhh, I just want him to get as much Momma time as possible) I feel bad that during the week we don't get to spend alot of time with him. I'm sure he is fine... he is a dog, but I just love him so much, I wish it was socially acceptable to take him everywhere.... well maybe not. But it's a nice thought for now!
As far as school goes, I'm pretty excited about this semester. We are doing CSCOPE (for all the non-teachers out there it's a curriculum that districts can buy and follow). I'm excited b/c it gives us a direction to go. For the last year and half we as a kindergarten team have just been following the sequence of topics that other teachers have done before us... and if we didn't have a model to follow, we just pulled stuff out of our butts, so I'm looking forward to having some serious direction. Our super intendent is also being AMAZING with it. He is wanting us to follow the topics, but he believes in us as educators so he wants us to teach the lessons however we want. I just really enjoy his out look on it.
The home front is going well. Our little Bonstead family is doing great! Gus wasn't feeling so hot this week but I think we have fixed the problem. (If you are eating you might want to skip this part) He threw up twice this week, and his toots have been frequent and AWFUL! It got so bad last night that I was literally breathing threw a blanket. Poor thing... he really wanted to go outside to eat some grass, but this weather has been so bad that there isn't any good grass for him to eat. I asked for some advice and read some things on line and we are going to switch his food and store it better. I'm also going to wash his kong really well (maybe there was some old peanut butter that he got to). We are hoping that this will make our little boy feel better.
On the larger home front... the Austin home front... we have some news. I'm not going to go into depth b/c if you know me well, then you know the whole, long story. But.. Ryan, my brother, is out of prison after being in for a little over a year. I'm hoping and praying that this will be a clean start for him. That he will be able to find a way to stay away from the things, and people that he doesn't need to be around. I'm asking for you guys prayers.... just if you happen to think of it. Pray for him.. that he will have the confidence to succeed. That he will remember the things he has learned this last year in rehab/prison and that he will lean on the Lord to get him through the rough times. Please pray for me... pray that I will be able to forgive him, completely and totally. That the Lord will show me how, or when to have a relationship with my brother again. I'm so torn... I love him (he is my big brother!) but I am so protective over my parents, and it's hard when you have been hurt for so long to forget that hurt and move on... especially when you aren't sure the hurting is going to stop. BUT the Lord tells us to forgive 70x7. So... the fact that he may continue to hurt our family and himself should not be a factor in all this. I just want to know that this time will be different.... but there is no way to know the future... I also want to know when Eric and I will buy a house, have kids, and well.. what loto numbers to pick. But that's not going to happen either!
All I know is the Lord is so good to us! I have been so blessed in so many ways, and I know that he holds the future. I know that whatever happens he is in control. I put my trust in Him!
And now, the moment that I have been waiting for since that horrible beeping sound started Monday morning... Friday night bed time! The weather is like 10 degrees outside, which makes sleeping even MORE amazing, our bed is nice and warm, and I have a wonderful hubby and sweet puppy to accompany me. Goodnight world... This tired teacher is going to bed!
